Ah the urban mecca of Saskatoon also somehow managed to plan an arena without an attached parking structure. Paris of the Prairies indeed.
it does have a proximate one though. The entire complex has internal underground road ways and parking that needed to be worked around and the convention centre redo includes an additional 526 spots.

This arena will be about the size of the one in Winnipeg with the possibility of expanding to 18 000 seats! seems super overkill for toon town...
If it doesn't cost that much more, and will turn a skeptic into an advocate, it is worth it. It won't require a wider span roof, which would be a big cost driver.

Oh for sure, Saskatoon is a nice little city, this could only help! Just makes me laugh that they could have an NHL size rink in a city of 300 000.

The current Sasktel Centre holds 15,000 and supports their pro Lacrosse team and also is the province's main concert venue which seems to get just as many big shows as we do, so they've had a facility this big for decades. So much like our new Event Centre, it's basically just a replacement for an arena that is close to the end of its lifecycle.

Saskatoon has been extremely ambitious in their development, definitely a forward-thinking city. I am not surprised by this proposal, though it is truly fabulous. It would be nice in a city of millions, let alone a metro of under 400,000.
