Calgary and TODs? recipe for an epic disaster.View attachment 509080
Looking at what has been built so far at Crown Park, it’s a shame they didn’t go for higher density. Not necessarily apartment towers or anything like that, but at least a few low rise 4 to 5 story apartment buildings. What they’re building currently could’ve been built out by the airport and nobody would’ve noticed the difference.
Agree 100%. This is an major waste of an opportunity. Why Brookfield would even go with such low density in a strategic location I have no idea when it could’ve gotten approved for so much more. That's one of the nicest City courses, I hope it stays!
These townhomes should have been a bunch of midrise buildings, this site demands more density!

Even the Brookfield developments in UD were much better. These units were also priced very highly, probably for it's location close to the golf course and downtown but would've thought they'd built something matching the price/location."Disappointment" is an accurate summary. Definitely something more walkable and pedestrian friendly would have been much preferable on this site. As it is, this looks like the kind of auto court style development you'd see in the new communities. A few relatively small moves would make a world of difference...proper street fronting townhomes like we see in University District and even West District,, a mix of colours and materials to differentiate the units more, a couple of small apartment buildings to get more people on the site, and ideally a CRU or two. These should be the minimum expectations for a site right next to LRT.
Then again, it's Brookfield, who are unimaginative and formulaic. I wish they'd stick to building in Livingston and Seton.
