Do they broadcast in 4K? been enjoying the UHD for most Flames games so far this year. Never done the 4K vs HDR comparison before...
The signal is in 1080p. You might still see 4K or UHD on the TV because that's the display resolution, but you're watching a 1080p signal. For cable subscribers, there is a Sportsnet 4K channel, but unclear if the signal are actually 4k. They piloted a few games years ago but then never announced their full schedule in 4k this year. Have a feeling the 4k channel is just upscaled because it's very unlikely they're broadcasting every game in 4k.

Him being this good, coupled with having some veterans and kids that can sorta play likely means we won't be able to bottom out. Flames don't have to score much to win, which should make for some awfully boring hockey.

The Flames still have a lot of draft picks and young guns who are going to get better. Just because they are holding their own as a mediocre team now doesn't mean that this is the model for the future. I'd also add that I think it's much better for a young player to learn the NHL game on a competitive team than one trying to tank and load up on draft picks.

My fear is being perpetually in the middle of the standings while playing 2-1 hockey games.

You need Elite players to be a winner, Flames seem to have that level of goalie, the drafted defence seem to have at least a couple potential players, but the forward ranks leave something to be desired. Players can come out of nowhere, and maybe one forward will be that guy and we just didn't see him coming. Its about scoring more than the other guys, for a player to do that consistently you need to be Elite, not sure that player is in the organization yet.

It does look like the flames will stay competitive and always be around the playoffs, can Conroy and Co. get that Elite forward required while being competitive... I think he has a shot but it is no guarantee.

Yeah I agree we don't have that elite forward yet, Zary should be a 60-70 point guy, same with Coronato, but nobody in the organization will be a point per game player. The good news is we should get a top 10 pick this year and land an additional 2 first round picks. I think Conny addressed the holes in our D, now we need to draft forwards, specifically a centre. The X factor is if the team looks like it may be exciting in the near future, we have the cap space to land a big free agent.

If the flames are not picking in the top 10, their first round pick goes to Montreal. To date they're 11th overall or 11 positions ahead of that line. If the flames do not finish in the bottom 10, they will pick wherever the Devils and Panthers finish. I don't see the flames getting another first rounder unless they do trade someone like Anderson.

I really hope they don't add any big free agent this summer. They need to give it one more season to see if this is real or just a team like the "find a way flames" that were not sustainably good.

The fact that they are 11th is quite surprising, there are a lot of better teams below them in the standings that will figure their shit out quite soon. Currently we are 6 points ahead of 23rd place Ottawa, losing 4 or 5 games in a row will put us in the bottom 10. I'm glad they're competitive, but aside from the 4-0 start, they are a .500 team.

Don’t forget they had a 4 game losing streak where they lost 5 out of 6 games. Since then they’ve only lost one regulation game in the last 7, going 4-1-2. Albeit against some easier teams.
But yeah, they’ll stay competitive for a while longer but over the long haul 82 game schedule they’ll finish in the bottom 10 for sure.

I'm not sure there are that many teams better than the flames. I don't think the flames are that good but the rest of the west is worse. Unless there's a major sell-off on D, which could happen with Anderson and some of the other depth guys.

I wouldn't be surprised if we stayed in a wild card spot most of the season. The team has shown they can play well, but also play like shit so it's hard to guess which way they will end up.

We're ahead of Edmonton, Vancouver, Colorado, Nashville... Those teams are all pretty stacked, would be amazed if they finish below us. Never know what will happen though, the parity in the NHL is pretty ridiculous these days.

I also think there is zero chance Andersson or Weegar are moved, they are the foundation of our D core and I think we can start to build around them. Best case for moving a player is Huberdeau, he's currently on pace for 43 points... lol

Rangers tonight, hope Wolf gets the start again, think he's earned the #1 job. Vladar has played fantastic, but the team seems more comfortable in front of Wolf.

If the Flames somehow pull it off and make it into the playoff this year, Wolf should be up for the Hart Trophy, because he's the sole reason this team is even in contention. The scoring on this team isn't coming close to good enough to win games without him.
