Suddenly the Flames look good. 🙁 I thought we were finally going to end up a solid last place, but lately they look like a team that could end up 9th again.
Looks can be deceiving, this is the best they have looked all season but keep in mind they will be trading at least Anderson away, maybe an AHL player can jump into that spot seamlessly but probably not. Also, even the worst teams win some games and get some points, and i don't think they looked very good against Florida and couldn't generate anything against Carolina. They're not as bad as they played in October but they're not as good as they have been in November. Their schedule wasn't as tough in November either. December should show who they are much tougher competition.

I think the Flames finish bottom 5 in the league still. They are playing better of late but still struggle to score, and losing Andersson will be a big hit whenever that happens. Brightest spot for the team lately has been Cooley, he looks great! Wolf has struggled a little bit, and Cooley has been great when needed.

Agreed. They've beaten some good teams lately and have moved form last to 2nd last, but there aren't many teams the Flames could realistically pass after Nashville. Maybe Buffalo or Vancouver.... They'll finish bottom 5 or less.

Either way, I’m worried the flames are gonna end up in ninth again. I would rather see them at the bottom of the league and get a little bit less value for Andersson or Kadri, but get a top five draft pick.

The flames have a lot of teams to jump over. They'll be in the bottom 5 and I hope when they do trade guys away that the young guys that comes up don't elevate them beyond the bottom 5. Andersson might be partially replaced by BRZ but I don't see the Flames being able to replace Kadri or Coleman.

We are currently 3 points behind SJ for the final wildcard spot. The way the Flames are playing right now is too good, 7 wins in the last 10 games, I want a top 5 pick (the higher the better).
Based on what Ownership said earlier about Kadri, I don't think he's going anywhere. Andersson trade is a foregone conclusion at this point, he should get is a 1st round pick with how well he is playing (21 points in 31 games, on pace for 55), and I can see Coleman possibly going as well, think we would get a 2nd for him. Still looks like a deep draft, so more picks is a good thing.

They do but the point gap to jump them isn’t much. I hope you’re right about the bottom 5 finish, that’s where I’d like to see them finish.

Even counting the flames 7-2-1 last 10, they moved past two teams. That points percentage will not continue so it will be difficult to move much higher. Also need to keep in mind their higher games played, you'd have to do some DEEP dive to figure out when they give back some of those games in hand.

To backup your argument though... I don't think the flames are that much worse than any of these teams, so it is realistic that they could, over the course of the season steadily climb. My fear is the flames do actually have a decent set of callups playing for the Wranglers so even some trades that should come won't actually make them bad enough to be last. The flames are a lot of things but on the ice they're not dysfunctional... It is a problem.
