I'd be quite surp

Still hope we can have both Scotia Place and the Saddledome host games, Would make a fantastic sendoff for the dome!

.
I think Kadri will be traded, his value is quite high currently. I love how Conroy will only take the best deal though, he is doing a great job as GM so far.
I actually think there's a decent chance. There's not that many city pairs that have two modern arenas nearby that doesn't have conflicting schedules. The NHL loves to have control over scheduling, and most of the North East and LA venues can't give them that.

Really liked him as a player, if we were 2/3 years ahead in the rebuild, he would be a good captain, but with his play falling a bit, this is probably the last chance to trade him. He missed out on those Florida cup years, happy for him to at least get a shot at playoff hockey even if Utah's not really a cup contender yet.

Would be interesting if we got Iginla back for Weegs. Sounds like he's gone regardless....

Sounds like Tij is not involved.

Think we got a decent return, would have rather had a first instead of 3 second round picks, but Maata is a decent defensive defenseman, and hopefully Castagna works out, he is over a point per game in the NCAA.

The Rangers second is pretty close to a first. Late 1st/Early 2nd isn't that different. That's a pretty good get and a proactive move, rather than waiting a year or 2, where we'll probably get nothing back because of the contract.

Ottawa will now get the 32nd pick in the 1st round and will pay a $1M fine.

Man the Flames are brutal now, 11 goals against in the last 2 games. My biggest concern with them being this bad is Wolf may lose patience and want out.

He's young still, actually very young to be an NHL goalie. The vibes around the team actually seem pretty good, maybe that's just the fans perspective but the team is finally putting effort into building properly. On this forum we can appreciate a well-built project, I think NHL players can appreciate a well-built team.

Definitely agree that the vibes around the team seem positive, not all doom & gloom like one would expect for the 2nd worst team in the league. Think the players and fans are putting a lot of faith in Conroy, hope he doesn't disappoint us.

When he signed it was pretty clear we aren't going to contend in the next couple of years. There's some decent prospects coming and if we're able to get a really high pick. I also don't think this team is actually that bad. They lack skill, but they're also performing way below their xGF. They do take useless long shots a lot, but Coronato going from 13.3% to 8.8% (way below league average), and the whole team tied with NJ for worst shooting percentage in the league.

Yea he's done well tearing it down and getting picks, but it's the turnaround to a contender that is the hardest. Or you might end up like Detroit, years of mediocrity and still have no team to show for it.

But the vibes have definitely been decent. That guys like Whitecloud chose to stay after perennial contention with Vegas. Weegar had to be almost forced into a trade. They got the guys that wanted out, out a couple of years ago, and now the team is mostly young players that just want a shot, or vets that weren't getting playing time elsewhere, so no one has anything to complain about.

We have an absolute ton of draft capital this year (and the next couple), so hopefully the scouts do their job well.
This year we have:
  • High first round (our own)
  • Mid-to-late first (Vegas)
  • Two high seconds (ours, Rangers)
  • Two mid seconds (Utah, Sens)
  • Two high thirds (ours, Canucks)
Plausibly 8 of the top 70 or so picks.
In the next three drafts, we have six first round picks and eight second round picks! (Although the later firsts and seconds are Avs and Vegas, so probably late ones.)
