It would be great to see a pedestrian/cycle bridge, coupled with a cycle path the rest of the way to Heritage station. There is plenty of density, and lots of businesses along the way. It would be so nice for the people forming that density, to be able to do a quick bike ride to Chinook.

This is a really excellent idea, I like it a lot! I hope you sent it off to the relevant councilor or someone at the city?

I'm of the opinion that McLeod should be freeflow all the way up to Glenmore, so having these sorts of side streets and pathways for the neighborhoods to orient towards instead is key.

This is kind of a pipedream given Calgary's mentality, but I see opportunity for a good north-south corridor running along side Chinook using 5th st and 4th street.
5th street would be a good spot for a bike lane, and it could run say from 50th ave south to Chinook. 5th has quite a bit of density nearby already, but with blanket zoning, it's an area ripe for more.

A second or concurrent phase could be a 4a street pathway.

Ultimately tying into the 5th street pathway to the 4a street pathway via a couple of connector options. I prefer the blue, as it would be a bridge and separated from vehicle traffic on Glenmore. It would partly be on CF land and might take some finessing.

Later a couple more phases that adds a bike lane to 58th ave, and lastly from the pipedream department, and cycle lane (in blue) that goes through Chinook and continues down 61st.

The city has a project in the engagement phase for something very similar to the bike/pedestrian path being proposed in this thread. Make sure to have your ideas heard in phases 2 and 3 of the engagement process.

Looks like the planned route is similar to my idea, but using 5th street instead of 4a Street south of Chinook, which is the other route I had in mind also. I tend to prefer 4a street due to the higher density residential, and the businesses along the route, but 5th is also good. There's no reason we can't do both at some point.
The other route I've long thought would be nice, is a protected route straight down Elbow all the way to Canyon Meadows. There's much less zig-zagging using Elbow, but it looks like they aren't considering it.
