Couldn't agree more. Good colour choice, a proper frontage on macleod (not that macleod deserves it). It is maybe a little bulky in areas with white panelling, but that is a small thing (pardon the pun). The glass stairwell is interesting, I thought that would be VE'd out.

Very nice. Really helps lift that stretch of Macleod from a zero to a one. The glass stairwell adds some unique interest and I'm absolutely shocked that didn't get value engineered out.

Good stuff for sure. This is honestly about as good as one can hope for on Macleod. Having a wall of steps isn't great, but unless there are serious changes to the road itself, it's not like anyone will be strolling down here like it's the Champs-Elysses anyway, so whatever, can't let perfect be the enemy of good.

I always have agreed with this for MacLeod, but recently see it more of a bias - just because it sucks and is totally hostile to people, I am always shocked how many people are walking on MacLeod, like today not in some imagined future with lots of redevelopment.
Why is kind of obvious - there's tons of stuff along the strip that people need or want to go to. Transit is readily accessible. Whether it redevelops with quality infill or not, the sidewalks should be widened and the terribleness should be slowly reformed - even if it stays as a major car sewer in practice for decades to come. Hardly a Champs-Elysses approach needed, just basic better sidewalks, a few less driveways, and a few more trees.
The problem with my windshield bias is that if I (someone who cares about pedestrian access and improvements) struggles to remember there's loads of people walking about today on MacLeod, it's really difficult for the 99% of people that just drive by without thinking this to imagine a different future. So few improvements are likely to ever will happen.

I was stopped at the lights right by this yesterday. def someone is going to fall on the stairs right into traffic on macleod. sidewalk is ridiculously narrow for the context.

This is the quality of external panels promised by ASI on The Fifth. Instead they value engineered it to death and installed this garbage on the right below.

Too bad about this being an Automall or I would have hope that the other corners might be redone to help push this intersection along. The small strip mall could be bought and turned into something... The two hotels likely bring decent foot traffic and there are a couple micro breweries down 36th.
