Agreed - Montgomery seems like one of those "next" nodes that's finally hitting it's stride. It's only a building or two of the 4-5 storey apartment over retail - but its real decent density, a huge boost in housing stock quality and diversity, lots of less obvious infills in the streets nearby, great transit/pathway connectivity and a renewed main street public realm.Turned out decently. More importantly that stretch of Bowness Road is starting to evolve nicely.
I used to live in Montgomery in the late 90s/early 2000s. Back then you wanted to live in "Upper Montgomery" closer to the mall because Bowness road was a dead zone, but now the focus has moved back to creating a 'main street' that the community never really had. What's cool too is Bowness Rd is developing into a nice walkable area but you also have all of the services that a car-oriented strip provides just 2 blocks away on the original Bowness Rd, now the TransCanada.Agreed - Montgomery seems like one of those "next" nodes that's finally hitting it's stride. All the pieces are there for one of Calgary's next walkable retail streets nodes.
