Even if the mall stayed, it's a win to have some of the parking lot disappear.

Drove by yesterday and it appeared that they have already dug down about one level so far. No sign of any demolition yet.

On that note, it looks like a new retail building has been applied for on the site. Not sure which one in the master plan, and no renderings as of yet, but DP has been submitted:

Terrible photo, but this is moving along pretty quickly. Also it looks like parts of the mall are being prepared for demolition. In the master plan it looks like they're going to demolish the middle section of the mall while keeping the big box stores (Walmart, Best buy)in place until the final phases.

Also, I was snooping around on the dmap and noticed another development associated with this.

Nothing special but it's retail building and plaza. Pretty sure this is going to be the start of the main retail street. It's a little bit suburban feeling, but once this is fully built out I think it will be fine.

The long term plan is far more ambitious than what's currently on the table. I suspect this is more of an interim plan to keep the area commercially active throughout the build out.
