We can only hope that the south Bow Tower ever gets built. I'm not sure how they'll ever get it to work economically, since the foundation that's built already was only for a short building.
I would be happy even to see the old York get put back together again.

I still think the best option is to turn the South Bow into a new Glenbow museum. Make it 5 to 8 floors in height and use essentially the exact same original renderings for the building. I think it would look fantastic with the York façade restored, plus the modern curved wall and roof facing 6th Ave. I would demolish the current Glenbow building since it is the ugliest thing in the city and replace it with a modern condo tower. There will be no demand for office space for a while but the museum is in desperate need of an upgrade. Win-win for al involved.

It's still strong enough to hold a 10 - 12 storey high rise with a fairly large footprint. A pretty cool boutique hotel could go there. Especially if they restore the York Hotel facade.

Hi Group,

The Remarks "Lost that Historic Bldg in a Dumpster Fire etc" I saw Stated. What Fire was that? I know the Lougheed Bldg on the Block - 6th Ave Side had a Fire of Sorts in then Renovations Years Ago. Is It asking to much for a Clarification Here on the Remarks.
Tnx,
Operater.

The built foundation becomes increasingly irrelevant the long it sits. As the city grows, we can expect changes to zoning that allows for more density to be built on the Bow site. No one going to be limited to a 12 storey tower if they can build 30 plus storeys here. It's not that big of an ordeal to cut a hole in the underground parking garage structure for a new core and some perimeter columns.

The York has been erased from this site. I would prefer the facade rebuilt in the Beltline, etc. as a boutique, 6 storey hotel instead of incorporated into a larger, commercial office building.

If I recall correctly, all the bricks and pieces of the York are being stored in the warehouse somewhere in order so that they can be put back to look like the original.

I know it is in storage. I'm saying there is nothing left to connect it to its former site. Several hundreds thousand Calgarians have never even seen it. Build it on a new structure to the original number of storeys elsewhere. Don't just slap it on the tall tower destined to be built across from The Bow.

The view from the Calgary will be very impressive for sure. How many floors left until the residential portion starts? I'd love to see the rumors of it being capped go away.

The curve has started, if you look closely at the pic of the corner, you can see the small setbacks! :D Yayyy! We're on floor 17, and the office portion goes up to 29, so it'll still be a while until we see it go to residential.

If I'm counting correctly I get 19 floors. Going by @Myles86 pic the second crane brace is on the 12th floor, and they are 7 floors above that. But yeah, still a while before we see the residential portion.
