It will be so wonderful for this building to be reimagined while maintaining most of its original exterior character. My favourite part of this proposal is that it activates the north face... an entire new addition to the CBD right next to a train station. Restaurant(s) included.

Looking at the renders hopefully the developer gets moving on this. Their work on the Capital here in Edmonton is pretty good. They definitely improved that building.

Progress is likely to be slow. All financiers, suppliers, trades will have Strategic on a short leash.

Hate to revive threads for inactive projects, but I just did some surfing around and this one may be starting again this year. The project demo/reconstruction started back in 2018 and then halted in late 2019, but now the "Alberta Major Projects" website has the start date switched to 2021. Hopefully that is a good sign.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. Their information, especially for startup dates, has been off many times. I have my doubts about Strategic Group. They have lost a lot of their project & construction people in the past year. They were either let go in downsizing or left on their own.

Strategic is still active though, I can see people investing in this building still as it's such a character building.

There were some people at site today. I don't think it was a case of working starting again, but a couple of guys were there. Maybe this is close to starting again?

Priorities and Finance committee today will be debating whether to put $7.5 million into this project, to get it started again. Official report can be seen here:
