I love renting in this city right now. All this new stock plus above-average vacancy has made renting here the past year enjoyable and affordable for the first time in my adult life. It's been nice saying goodbye to a decade of 5 - 20% annual increases in rent.I'm continually surprised at how investment keeps going despite the economy. One thing that does appear to be happening is rental units are getting rented. Not at lightning speed, but it's happening. I was talking to the folks at Versus, and they are filling units.
The new stock offers some different floor plates and designs that are badly needed in the traditional 1970s-style apartment block layouts.
