The idea was supposed to be selecting cities with stadiums already built and ready for the most part. We certainly needed some notable upgrades, but Toronto has to double the size of their stadium and then all the washrooms, concessions etc.
Vancouver should have the least amount to do - grass is the main one I think.
Also not impressed with Soccer Canada - they've proven themselves a disappointment with a lot of folks though including the players on both the men's and women's national teams.
I was still sour on Soccer Canada for their treatment of Edmonton related to World Cup 2026 (i know, i can really carry a grudge) but this organization continues to have some dark clouds hanging over it - from its treatment of both the men's and women's teams (compensation and welfare of players the past few years) and now officials involved in this Olympics scandal where our women's coach has been sent home - team caught spying on another team with a drone. And now revelations of many other instances - called 'systemic'. So far, all coaches over last few years on both women's and men's teams denying knowledge. And Soccer Canada is the one investigating after if was reportedly brought ro their attention previously.
Coaching staff and contractors working with Canada’s men’s and women’s national soccer teams have been engaged for years in efforts to film the closed-door training sessions of their opponents, including during the women’s gold-medal winning Olympic tournament in 2021, sources told TSN.
