From personal experience, I loved the fact that I was able to take the train from Narita International Airport directly to Tokyo station in the heart of Tokyo. No connections, no transfers just train ride and that was it.
I've taken it too. It was nice that it was a limited/express train and it was fast enough to be competitive with driving. LRT would've been a bit torturous.

Just to reiterate not having to make a connection and the anxiety it brings would make the LRT direct service more attractive
Higher frequency on the 747 bus route would go a long way to alleviate that anxiety. Even 30 minutes is not frequent enough.

Can't see LRT being justified if the ridership doesn't demand higher frequency than that.

Would Edmonton be willing to do that? Granted, it's not impossible, but I do wonder if Leduc even wants the LRT to come to their city, let alone all the costs to build it all the way out there.

And also regarding the YEG connection, unless city expansion goes all the way there, there's nothing to stop at for 10 km between the airport and Desrochers/Allard. The only way it's worthwhile is perhaps have an exclusive line going directly to the airport that goes at higher speeds, which solves the 80 km/h speed limit problem and any delays having to do multiple stops.

The debate is between extending the Capital line versus building an express line from downtown to the airport. At the point we’re the bus frequency is 15 minutes the LRT would win hands down. The express line is just a horrendously expensive wet dream

If Leduc was interested in building their own stop to extend the LRT then that's their choice although I could see a specific bus shuttle that would simply go to the airport and at that point passengers would transfer to the LRT at that stop. I think the first step that would be nice to see is the LRT to be at least expanded to the proposed additional stops from the most recent plans. With that said I think there would be definitely some developers that would love to develop land further along the LRT route south of 41st Avenue.

To me, this is a massive selling point of simply extending the Capital Line all of the way to YEG. I believe you that developers would be very interested in developing land further along the LRT route, and we have already seen with infill along the Valley Line what this means for density and livablility once developers can plan around a concrete line.

From their latest Master plan is distinctly shows LRT coming from the north IMO.

Re the upper plan it is great to see the LRT connection ending up directly adjacent to the terminal building -- tres convenient. Don't know if the dotted line suggests that it would be tunneled to that location. It also looks like it might be planned to carry on to Leduc at some future point in time.

I doubt that the airport's planning documents are taking a connection to Leduc into account.
