Most (freight) train/car collisions happen at intersections with lights and bells (that likely fail)I shiver imagining what these idiots would do at those rural freight train crossings that don’t even have lights or stop signs.

These weren't bids that were submitted. This was prequalification. Bid submittals will occur once the RFP is issued, so vendors still have time to figure out to deal with any present or future tariffs that could impact their pricing.Well, Siemens should at least be given the opportunity to adjust their bid and remove US supply chain links. The other shortlisted supplier, CAF, also builds LRVs in the US as well.
Im hoping for Hyundai personally. These weren't bids that were submitted. This was prequalification. Bid submittals will occur once the RFP is issued, so vendors still have time to figure out to deal with any present or future tariffs that could impact their pricing.
As for Siemens being the best choice in his opinion, I disagree. I've heard more than a few complaints out of Calgary, the latest of which is their newest S200's can't talk to their older S200's. That is a really stupid problem to encounter.
Either way, the US tariffs introduces a major biassing factor. Suppliers which did not make the prequal list could challenge the results of the RFQ.These weren't bids that were submitted. Wow that looks like a massive divot in the middle of the 23rd/111st intersection (around 21 seconds into the video). The video is worth it just for that alone. Now I know where not to drive next time I'm around there!
They're also putting in a crosswalk on the west side of that intersection.Looks like they’re putting up a right turn signal at 114 Street SB at University Avenue, like the one at 76 Avenue or Valley Line.
