Anyone ideas who the six bidding teams might be?

I’d think for sure Siemens and Alstom.

Hyundai-Rotem?

Stadler and CAF?

CRRC? Hitachi or another Japanese company?

Kinkisharyo would be a good bet.
The procurement includes a requirement to provide 3 examples of existing LRV models in service. While this can include low floors, there will be a preference for vendors who can demonstrate that they have delivered a fleet of high floor LRV's of 20 or more vehicles within the past 10 years.
In terms of North America, I believe only Siemens and Kinkisharyo have supplied high floor LRV's in the last 10 years. Breda (Hitachi now) also supplied cars to LA, but they fall outside of the 10 year window. World wide, I'm sure most of these vendors have done high floors in the last 10 years.
 
San Francisco disqualified Breda (now Hitachi) from bidding to supply trains to the MUNI Metro, they ended up going with Siemens S200. I'd love for the S200 with longitudinal seating to come, hopefully City of Edmonton looks at both the short and long term costs. I also like Bombardier-Alstom based on my time in Vancouver, wasn't the biggest fan of Hyundai-Rotem though but I'll reserve judgement for when the first of their LRVs come into revenue service here.
 
I'm really excited to see the model and livery they choose for these new trains. A Siemen's SD200 with a livery similar to the Hyundai Rotem Valley Line vehicles would be so cool! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the current white with the blue and grey stripe, but imo we should do something more interesting with the new trains.

The Frankfurt U5 trains are Alstom. I have an email directly from the top of ETS LRT stating that they're exploring the use of 4 car trains instead of the current 5 car trains for the full length. Longer cars are hopefully what we're getting.
