We haven't been talking about "great architecture" - we've been talking about the visually-loud, look-at-me towers that were fashionable during the recent boom.

When there's a blank slate - a disused former industrial complex adjacent to empty brownfields sites for instance - a new context can be created. Freed is doing it at King and Bathurst, the Port Lands are an example of new neighbourhoods being developed, and so is the new Regent Park.

Nobody here has claimed that using certain materials or techniques will end because of the economic crash. Read the thread.
