A street set aside where panhandlers would be the main tourist attraction? Could be the thing Toronto becomes famous for! (Thinks of ugly downtown Toronto St that could see a boost in traffic: oh got it! Dundas St West is really ugly and needs a boost. Pay 25 cents and you get to look at a homeless person; for $1 you get to speak with them; for $10 you can buy them dinner! $50 gets you a Date! Date a homeless person and take him/her off the street for a night!)

Replace panhandlers with squeegee kids and it brings a whole new meaning to 'red light district'...

when you're in a wheelchair, homeless people don't ask you for change anymore.
it's very depressing.

Why not make it illegal to give money to beggars? Afer all, the only reason why people beg in the first place is because they know they are going to get something.

You don'tn see homeless people begging in the suburbs because the pedestrian traffic is so low that they may not make anything for days. If beggars had the same luck downtown, the problem would vanish - depending on how you look at it.

Don't make it illegal, just taboo, or at the very least, uncool in a you're-just-feeding-their-addictions-to-make-your-guilt-ridden-middle-class-conscience-feel-better kind of way.

I see homeless people begging in the suburbs. Not nearly as many as downtown, of course, but they're there...

King and Straughn has a homless shelter. It is like Night of the living dead there. You can not get gas without them coming up to you. They lay at the entrance to the esso. They follow you on the street, and they lately come to your car window.

Who the hell wants that in their hood everyday. I know the girls in the hood are not too find of having these zomies come up to them while filling their cars up.

I usually scream bloody murder at people who give them money as I have to live with these things

It wouldn't be so bad if they were all wearing colourful clown suits with painted smiley faces. When they look sickly and their clothes are dirty it is depressing. They end up looking like some of the university professors.
