whats wrong with north york?

those renders are very misleading in regards to the curve at the top.

Not the 'its too bad these weren't built in downtown Toronto' argument again. Mississauga has Absolute and they deserve it. Now North York has Emerald Park, which they also deserve (if there is such a thing as deserving a landmark). Downtown's got more than enough landmarks, past, present and future. So get over it, please.

^I interpret the "Too bad these aren't downtown" as actually: "Too bad we are not an island the size of Manhattan, then all the outlying buildings would all be grouped in one place and we'd have a SUPER skyline."

I think it's more a bemoaning of Toronto's geographical shortcomings and that we are so spread out, than a resentment of the other city centers' good fortune.

:D

I agree...and to the number of floors/overall height. The newest renders show towers that are roughly 48 and 38 storeys, the older renders even taller. Nice renders, but confusing.
Have they added units/floors to this project? Has there been a change to the "official height?"

I always viewed the fact that Toronto had multiple "downtown" as an HUGE asset. Too bad most people still see it as a competition instead of looking at the bigger picture...

^It is this line of reasoning... "What's the point of owning a Ferrari, a Rolls Royce and a Mercedes if one is parked at the cottage, one is at your office and only one is in your driveway?... How will the neighbours be jealous? Park them all in one spot and then they can envy you."

:p

The Cheapening is imminent. Tufts of grass downgraded to Fieldturf, then Astroturf, then green paint.

I hate project websites which don't have prices. When I don't see a non-negotiable price I always feel I am going to be ripped off.

North York Centre is really in need of an iconic building because it has a lot of sophisticated but not iconic buildings, and this development comes close to achieving that, but not quite.

These are sophisticated but fairly standard condo towers, except for the curve at the top. For now they'll do. The curve is more distinctive than the upward projected corner of the Nestle Building at Yonge and Sheppard, and the curve should make it more memorable than the AIM Trimark Tower, which succeeds with great details but an unremarkable profile.

I'm a bit skeptical too that the curved portion at the tops of these towers wont materialize in reality. Of course I hope I am wrong...
