In Midtown (Y&E), the Coffee Bar (formerly Istanbul Coffee & Bar), has been bought by the pub next door so will be slowly morphing more Irish than Turkish, but for now it's cozy, full of dark warm wood, has fireplaces, and has a front window view that overlooks a crosswalk if you're into people watching. Random bonuses - It's one of the few places I know that still offers Goth lattes and there's eccentric street art nearby.

I like the look of the comfy chairs.................the green on the exterior is a tad jarring!

Omigod omigod omigod! My old favourite Second Cup location near St. Lawrence Market that sadly became a cannabis dispensary for a bit is going to be a coffee shop again! Will have to update again once it's open to report on it's "cozy" status.

I'm really excited to see this, too. There's a desert of decent coffee shops in the immediate area of the market. I hope this is the beginning of the end for most of those dreary cannabis shops that blanketed the hood during the pandemic.

I've been to the Mofer down on Queens Quay and Jarvis. I liked it. It has a unique vibe and slightly different coffee from most Toronto third wave places. Lots of seats for hanging out or working etc.

Epos Coffee at Gerard and Parliament as yet another sign this hood is moving along nicely.
https://www.instagram.com/epos.coffee/. I’m a big fan of Epos Coffee. I was chatting with the staff who (that day, at least) mentioned they’re from Ukraine, which makes me and my Ukrainian-Canadian wife even bigger fans. And by bringing more sane and sober spenders to the corner of Gerrard and Parliament can only improve things.

And yesterday I was one of them, lingering in their cozy space for over an hour!

So nice that there’s finally a nice indie cafe in the heart of St. Lawrence - Mofer. This one checks a lot of boxes - historic building, rustic interior, vibrant street life, and an unbeatable view. The yawning space lacks a certain intimacy however, and there could definitely be some more soft, comfortable seating.
