Would be nice if this was able to continue down to Dundas and connect to the Railpath extension going into downtown. But maybe its too tight there as the elevation stops.

Hopefully they will make some kind of connection to Earlscourt Park in the north, which now has a trail through it that Google Maps again refuses to show but is visible in streetview.

One could then bike through the cemetery up to Eglinton.

With the Bloor-Lansdowne GO station the trail should continue to just past Dora Avenue:

And looks like it's designed to potentially be extended further one day?

Re Betty Sutherland & Don Mills trails:
At some time in the future the Betty Sutherland crossing under 401 will open again. Are there any plans, or at least proposals, to connect that trail to the Don Mills trail that runs from York Mills south (almost) to Eglinton?

Unfortunately a very bougie and private golf course is in that area.

There are no plans, but the best way to connect the two trails would be through the Leaside Spur trail.

I would have the trail continue further up the side of the Richmond Hill Line, and then sneak under the rail bridge overpass over Leslie and then go through the ravine there by the 401 to connect to the Betty Sutherland trail

The short section of raised and separated bike path on The Esplanade just west of Market Street is currently being paved and they were working on the the new/replacement traffic lights at Church & The Esplanade. If I understand right, they are going to grind and resurface The Esplanade from Yonge to Church and assume the bike path lines will be painted after that.

They have paved the multi use path on the south side of Lakeshore East past the Don Roadway to Carlaw. Still an interim condition, but nice to see it progressing. Council documents today show Lakeshore East reopening in December 2025, and the Don Roadway and paths opening this fall.
Is it safe to say that any bike path that crosses the new Lakeshore bridge to avoid dipping down to Commissioners street is a long long ways away. Moving the Gardiner north being the main obstacle?

That looks very reasonable. So now, who should advocate for it at the right places? Perhaps those city councillors who passed the motion opposing the closure of Betty Sutherland trail at 401 and then forgot all about it? This would be their chance for redemption.

Hate to be a bearer of bad, if not yet official news.......I am given to understand that Councillor Fletcher - known enemy of cycling, pedestrians and transit.....is set to strike again.

She is seeking to nix the proposed improvements on Logan.

After someone whispered to me, I sought confirmation, and this appears to be the case.

@TwoWheelPoli go get her....... LOL

I am sorry, what the fuck?

What is her rationale?? Logan is already one way for cars and no parking will be lost with the contraflow bike lane.....

I have no clue what her 'rationale' is.......other than she intervened to stop an expansion of Broadview Station to save some parking spaces, she's dialed back the improvements to cycling facilities on Jones for the same reason,
and she's been responsible for endlessly deferring carsharing expansion as well.

She just has a very pro-parking bias and lacks enthusiasm for almost any other mode of transportation. Progressives genuinely need to mobilize to oust her.

I forgot about Broadview 😢.

Lol my point was that even with her pro-parking logic, here there will be 3 spaces added. It doesn't make sense that she is opposing this ☹️.

I do believe the point of people letting me in on that is so I can put it out there to rally the troops before she actually does spike it.

Someone tell Lanrick.......

What the literal hell? Going to need some official confirmation about this, but Mayor Olivia Chow must be called out for her poor decision in naming Paula Fletcher as IEC chair!

Completely agree. All I can say is I have two independent sources that corroborate that info. I'd like to believe they are mistaken, but that seems unlikely.

No question.

The spring cycling report (yes spring) is now public on the agenda for next week's I&E meeting.

As I noted above........... Logan/Carlaw is deferred.

From the above:

The earliest this can now come back is the October report to I&E for implementation in 2026. But don't hold your breath.

On to good news, the upgrades to Peter/Blue Jays Way are there:

I knew this would be a small report, with most items coming forward in October........but this is smaller than I had understood was coming.

Logan/Carlaw is obviously one of the projects that did not come forward. Councillor Fletcher strikes again.
