Dawson Bridge Rehabilitation | City of Edmonton
The Dawson Bridge will undergo rehabilitation with construction anticipated to begin in late summer 2025.
It might have been better if she ran to be councilor downtown rather than for Mayor. She brings up valid concerns and there seems to have been some adjustments made so hopefully the disruption will be not too bad.![]()
City to begin work on River Valley bridge, aims to ‘limit traffic impact’
Yet another of the city’s River Valley bridges is set to be refurbished in the coming weeks, which is drawing mixed feelings from residents on the balance between much-needed maintenance and traffic disruptions.www.ctvnews.ca
Failed mayoral candidate Cheryll Watson is at it again.![]()
I always wonder if they're stupid and don't know the legal ramifications of getting out of a contract of that size and complexity or if they're disingenuous in an effort to dupe their thoughtless and willfully uninformed constituents. Either way not someone I wanna vote for. Cartmell gave me a similar head scratcher during his campaign on the whole infill/development question.I was going to vote for Cheryll Watson for mayor in 2021 until she campaigned to cancel the Valley Line West. Fastest switch-up I’ve ever done
I would chalk that up mainly due to lack of her experience. Anyone who actually spent some time on council should have known that wasn't realistic. This is why I feel being mayor shouldn't be an entry level position.I always wonder if they're stupid and don't know the legal ramifications of getting out of a contract of that size and complexity or if they're disingenuous in an effort to dupe their thoughtless and willfully uninformed constituents. Those are really cool photos. The City said the bridge was used for electric trains. Maybe the city has it wrong, and the electric trains (funicular) were adjacent to the bridge as you say. I do think it would be difficult to run tracks across the bridge as there is a pretty abrupt crest between two spans. Thanks for the info!Fuzzy photo below shows both the electric carts (funicular style) and the horse-drawn coal carts leading to the Dawson Bridge. They occurred on either bank of the river valley, the purpose being to get coal from the mine to the rapidly expanding downtown precinct of a very Young and Fast-growing Edmonton. The guy in the photo below the first was my great uncle Cole (named as a precursor to his chosen profession as... well he was called Cole the Coalman --'nuff said just wish he would have made an effort to clean up before his picture was taken)Dawson Bridge (East End Bridge) - HistoricBridges.org
