That's progress in Detroit. All the blight discourages people from the suburbs from spending money in the city. Suburban Detroit has enough capital to revitalize much of the city, but it doesn't happen. In fact, the suburbs keep expanding outward. If you want to go to a shopping mall like Yorkdale in Detroit, you have to travel 35-50 kilometres from downtown to the suburbs. The only transit is local bus routes.

Can anyone please tell me why booming Detroit suddenly died??
The decline of the auto industry, deindustrialization, suburban flight.....the list goes on.
