This is the current state that downtown Yonge Street is in today. It is rather glum and lifeless! This walk goes from The Esplanade to Dundas Square.

I just walked by and it appears as though the (former) Pizza Pizza at Yonge & Elm is being turned into a Scotiabank.

I was downtown for the 1st time in a month on Tuesday; I saw extensive paving and sidewalk works ongoing on Yonge between Gerrard and Dundas.

I was rather flummoxed by this.

This section of road is slated for total reconstruction in as little as 2 years.

Doesn't seem like the wisest use of funds.

Don't tell me that lack of communication or planning foresight among city departments in Toronto come as a surprise!

Ongoing renovation work on the former Pizza Pizza at Yonge & Elm:

I think that this is new(ish). Northwest corner of Victoria and Adelaide. Taken 25 January.

This building was so vibrant when it housed the Marche for many years, but it’s been an empty dead zone since before Covid. Such a waste of a beautiful historic building. I’m really surprised the space hasn’t been leased for so long.
