To say "Dufferin Grove is full of wealthy white people" is rather generalized. This isn't Forest Hill, Lawrence Park or Leaside here. Majority of households here and in the surrounding Wallace Emerson and Dovercourt Village are still first or second generation Portuguese, who started out with working class origins. Afterwards there's a fairly even distribution of Asian, South Asian, Caribbean, African, and Latin American population.

Separately and albeit anecdotally, one only has to make a visit to Dufferin Mall to acknowledge the diverse and working class demographics that frequent the shopping centre and area.

Some dated info from a couple websites but still gives a good sense of the neighbourhood make up:

Agreed - Dufferin Grove is certainly mot some wealthy, WASPy enclave like The Kingsway or something. It's definitely still got a strong working class flavour to it.

Yeah, I grew up a bit further north around Dufferin and Davenport. The general demographics are more or less similar for most stretches from Dundas to the south, Weston Road to the west, Eglinton to the north, and Ossington/Oakwood to the east.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s in elementary school, around 80% of my class were Portuguese and among their parents around 80% of their fathers worked in construction and their mothers worked in cleaning, retail, food production or other blue collared professions.

Whenever our school faced other schools in further out regions for sporting competitions you can tell the difference. Especially with those from the east end Beaches area for example.
