Ooh, I did not know that was their policy. Do they not have food outside of brunch? Food hasn't been on my mind when I've been there in the evening hours. ;)

They have brunch and just a few options at lunch and in the evening, as well as the baked goods at the coffee shop. But yea, they have always allowed outside food.

A bit old news now, but DeSerres art store is moving from its current home near Danforth and Woodbine, to a new location closer to Danforth and Coxwell across from Robertson Parkette. DeSerres' new home will be 1556 Danforth Ave., where the "Dance DANCE Dance" studio was formerly located. The current DeSerres location will reportedly be taken over by RBC, which is apparently abandoning its current location right on the corner of Danforth and Woodbine because the interior of the brutalist structure presents accessibility issues to anyone in a wheelchair or with a stroller.

Yeah, "the Danny" certainly has generated a fair amount of derision and scorn online.

I actually find "The Danny" better than the "Danforth Mosaic," which sounds like it was picked out of a BIA ping pong ball cage with other names like "Village" and "Promenade."

That payday loan store at the stately building at the corner of Greenwood and Danforth is so unfortunate. The signage on the building is so tasteless.

OMG - the first time I saw it was a year and a half ago or so. I was getting gas across the street and was horrified. It likely violates the sign by-law, but the City only responds to complaints.

New payday loan regulations came into effect on January 1, 2018, which lower the overall cost that payday lenders can charge clients for borrowing money. And apparently a new whack of regulations is coming into effect on Canada Day, assuming that we don't elect a new government which cancels them. The payday loan industry is crying foul, saying it will make it difficult for many locations to keep operating. Good. This one might disappear.

Queen's Park also passed Bill 57 last year which enables municipalities to limit the number and location of payday lenders in their jurisdictions. Not sure if Toronto is working on a by-law or not.

Completely agree, the building has a great facade. Hopefully it's a shorter lease or the bill has an impact and the addition of the condo on the SW corner will bring in a different tenant.

Skeezix, do you know what signage bylaw the owners are violating? I will gladly bring it up to the local councillor and city.

The amount of signage seems like it is more than what is permitted for first party signs without a by-law variance. But let me check that.

First party signage is supposed to occupy no more than 20% of the exterior wall on the ground floor (the area of the wall is calculated excluding windows), and 10% of the wall on the second storey. To be honest, hard to tell if this sign exceeds that limit.

Thanks for the research Skeezix. It might be worth contacting Municipal Licensing. A shame it doesn't include windows and the awful window wraps terrorizing the city.
