Wasn't this turned down by the city from the get go?

Yes and no.
It was EDC approved & rezoning passed initially, but then turned down at later sessions.
Didn't get community support.
The land swap was complicated and other factors but the community was against it. They had some valid points too I would imagine.
I do hope this turns out decent.
I just think it's to bad, but it is what it is.

I think it was really killed by the Oliver Community League. If they came out in support early, Council would've followed through with a final rezoning approval.

Yes, very much killed by the non-support of the community - not that their rationale made much sense. Ended up being a lose-lose-lose situation.
