Haven't heard anything, i am curious too.
The property (2775 Sir Arthur Currie) is listed for sale. Could be an old listing?

Oh awesome! It says under contract when looking under properties. So i guess the potential buyer is doing their research to see what they can build there.

Anything further on this? Or is it toast?
Could be toast as there's nothing I could find about it or Beljan. I drive by this every day hoping to see the "rezoning" signage changed.

Two weeks ago, the front doors were open and several vehicles were parked outside. My guess is that prospective buyers were looking at the property.

Seems to be lots of traffic coming and going from site. Makes me think there's a lot of interest. I hope so, north side is absolutely devoid of almost any character and this location is prime for something great, in the middle of a great neighbourhood.

There is an update to the rezoning signage. Still Beljan, but sounds like a completely different plan without the apartments.

Living in the community, I really hope they do something with this building. I think there was a bit of NIMBY pushback on the initial proposal which is unfortunate.

I believe the rezoning passed in Council (9-2) on Tuesday. This was for a revised proposal where the residential portion was removed. It was rezoned to CG, general commercial, and Beljan is working on getting the building a heritage designation.

Their project website was updated to say that rezoning was approved. Also found the approval posted on the CoE website.

Do you know what plans Beljan has for the building? There are no details at all since the last design was scrapped. I heard rumours of a sports arena, but that doesn’t fit Beljan’s identity.

I think the intent for the old training center is still the same as in the original plans (small grocery, coffee, pub, etc.) - similar tenants to their other properties. At least that was what I got from their presentation to council.

It was only the new residential portion that was scrapped. Hopefully, now that they can proceed we'll get more info soon

Planning on repositioning the building to a variety of commercial/retail uses. Cool re-use of the building and hopefully they can find some tenants to kick this one off.

It's too bad the residential was scrapped. There's no shortage of medium density in the area and a well-designed piece would have fit well here. Either way, happy to see there's movement and I'm confident if anyone can turn this into a gem, it's Beljian.
