The Edmonton way is to beautifully rebuild period correct buildings that exist/existed, but place them in Fort Edmonton instead of downtown for some reason.
I realize there are good intentions related to this, but I feel this also creates a history ghetto, whereas it would be better if history was included in our community not segregated from it.

And there are no shortage of places downtown or elsewhere to recreate some of that history, which would also make our somewhat bland downtown more interesting and meaningful.

The Canadian Western Place Head Office Fit Up project will renovate, modernize and fit up 195,900 square feet of office space within Manulife Place. Specifically, the work will take place within Manulife Place on floors 5-12 and 14, with a new interconnected stairwell on floors 5/6.

A building permit was issued by the City of Edmonton on March 27, 2025.

Municipality:Edmonton
Sector:Commercial
Type:Office Renovation
Schedule:2025 - 2026
Estimated Cost:$15.7M

National Bank says it will begin the move after the completion of Epic’s renovations and the bank’s own renovations to the office space. The bank will grow its footprint in the building to 10 floors and, along with the new name, will feature the bank’s logo and façade crown signage and a banking centre at street level.

Maybe it will also inspire or motivate some of the big banks, a couple of which don't seem to have much of a presence downtown
Like? Servus is the only 'big bank' without a presence downtown. The rest are all located dt - RBC, BMO, Scotia, etc.
