It is a big parking lot yes, but back when that void you see in the middle of the photo was a Zeller's it didn't seem as unreasonable. When Target took over the space it was a big failure, the mall always felt like it had an inevitable doom but that helped speed up the process for sure.

This is probably going to lease up extremely fast, especially from international immigrants too. Hopefully the snippet about them being able to charge higher rents at their Garneau property means other projects get started too.

Interesting, and I like it. Synergy is Edmonton based and has done a fair share of work around here. The part I like is Diamond Schmidt is Ontario based and looking at their portfolio you get a sense of high quality. Seems similar to Maclab bringing in a nice firm from Toronto like they did with The Parks.

Seems like this will be Diamond Schmidt's first project in Edmonton, they've done work all around Canada including Calgary:

Only questionable thing for me is I don't think Synergy has ever completed a high-rise project before. As long as Maclab has a decent budget here we should expect something nice :)

They've done this BEAUTIFUL high rise in Fort Mac, although the building construction was stalled after the 6th or so floor was poured and Synergy took over and finished it:
