Well, glossing over what I assume was a pretty crappy game from only watching the last 5 minutes.
I've seen a lot of articles and comments popping up in Oilers circle in other corners of the internet about potentially moving the Oilers farm squad closer to home. Bakersfield seems to be a great organisation, and they seem to do well in the city, but logistically it makes a lot more sense to have the farm be at the very least in Canada, ideally Alberta.
Every other Canadian team either has their team in their actual city or relatively nearby.
Calgary: Calgary Wranglers
Toronto: Toronto Marlies
Winnipeg: Manitoba Moose (They play at the same rink as the Jets)
Montreal: Laval Rocket
Vancouver: Abbotsford Canucks
Ottawa: Belleville Senators
I've seen some people suggest Red Deer as a potential landing spot, they could maybe play out of the Centrium, where the Rebels play.
Putting them in Edmonton would be nice but tough as it would be tough with scheduling at Rogers considering its also the Oil Kings home rink. They could maybe make a deal with the U of A and play out of Clare Drake as well?
I think it would be cool if they put the farm team in Saskatchewan, probably Saskatoon. Sask currently has no pro hockey teams which is a real shame.
Overall, I guess what are our thoughts? Are we good with the current arrangement with the Condors, or would it be best for the organisation to move the farm closer to home?
