I remember when Blue Quill looked like that before Wimpey did the site and underground servicing while some said we shouldn't allow such sprawl to take plane and others said "don't worry about it, who the h3ll would want to live that far?

Ha! My grandparents are original owners of their house off 111th and 34 ave. Grandpa still talks about how much fun it was being able to open the back gate and go skidooing down to Whitemud Creek in the 70s…

Notable exclusion of permits, which can be a better real-time indicator:

MMI posted a piece on how housing starts (as defined by CMHC) are measured by when a foundation is finished, so "2025 housing starts" are really projects that started in 2023-2024. We are still looking solid so far.

Someone made a dashboard that tracks council votes, rezonings, and permit applications all in one place. It's generally info that's available from the City already if you know where to look, but it is interesting. Plus you can see the percentage of for-vs-against housing votes made by members of Council.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds super interesting. I'm guessing there's some level of automated data scraping going on here, so I wonder how they audit the data to ensure accuracy/quality. I'm excited to dig more into this!
