Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I'm really not a fan of the trend of sticking these very contemporary-styled additions onto non-contemporary buildings. That said, this is definitely an example of one of the better ways to do it.

I think the intent here is simplicity in design of the modern addition. Not trying to have its own "impact" but just elegantly highlight and embolden the contemporary structure
