Well, we just saved 30M of already budgeted cash by not having to pay to demo the Coliseum. This seems like a pretty good place to redirect those funds to
Yes, it looks like the facility will be quite good and will benefit the community and area. If the city has concerns, fine hold Winspear to the fire a bit, ask for an audit and loan guarantees.

I suspect in the end an audit will conclude the cost overruns were due to construction cost inflation which was common around that time, but the city can say its done due diligence and help out.

She's look'in good!

I really like the design. I would have preferred the wood just a shade or two darker but it could just be the pics/daylight giving the wood that washed out look - almost looks same colour as court house.

Funny enough, I just came across a design I did back in 2008 for a mixed use tower and arts hall for this very site!

That’s an elegant design man nicely done.

Just missing one thing. If it were me designing it I would put a comically large megaphone on the roof to blast whatever was being played inside the winspear nearby by.

It would be at least 25% the size of the tower itself.

Small anecdote. We have friends visiting with us from Spain and I was showing them all the buildings around Churchill square. I asked someone at the door to the winspear if we could peak inside, and he said he’s not supposed to but he could let us. He let us step inside the main performance hall and the symphony was in rehearsal. It was beautiful. Almost brought a tear to my eye. What a special space this is in a downtown that is struggling a little bit to find its footing
