We have a thread for the last Electoral Boundary discussions (https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/new-electoral-boundaries.19091/) NOTE TO MODS: Maybe add "2012" to THAT Thread's title??
The proposals for 2022 are now available: https://redecoupage-redistribution-2022.ca/com/on/med/aug1922_e.aspx
For Toronto there are some quite interesting changes, the loss of a seat in the 'east end' and some tidying up of local boundaries and names. The strange split of St Lawrence between 'Toronto Centre' & 'Spadina-Fort York' has been corrected as the new southern boundary is moved a block south, from The Esplanade/Mill Street to Lake Shore Blvd. 'Spadina-Fort York' has a new (and better) name 'Spadina-Habourfront'. 'Parkdale-High Park' is now 'Tiaiaik'on-High Park'.
The normal practice is then to redistribute the Provincial ridings to fit the new Federal constituencies and the Municipal Wards to fit the Provincial. If Toronto loses a Federal Constituency, will we also have one less MPP and one less City Councillor?
