Interesting view of the buildings and trees on Fisherman's Island, before the Eastern Portlands obliterated it all.

The scholarly literature on department stores sees them as feminized shopping spaces. Places where female customers were the symbolic public. Those billboards tell us something different. The symbolic audience for the billboard was perhaps more masculine.
