I had never heard of The Toronto Circus Riot of July 13, 1855, until recently. This video mentions the control the Orange Order had on police and fire companies at the time.

Is that around the time they removed that SB-Yonge-to-EB-Gardiner loop ramp? Even looks from the photo that whatever vehicles were on it were merely service/construction vehicles...

From the Toronto Star 1927 (in the TPL collection). Would have been on the site of Scotia Plaza.

"Forecast rise of Toronto Towers. Here is shown the downtown street advertisement Toronto Towers huge development project being undertaken by the King-Adelaide Corporation. The display predicts facilities for 40 retail shops with 348,000 feet of class A floor space, to be ready by September, 1929."

Ok, it’s sort of summer Covid concert season. 54 years ago on August 4th, 1967 at Toronto City Hall, Jefferson Airplane played a free concert in the afternoon. Good hash was to be had. 😵‍💫
