"Thanks for all the background, JT! Here's another pic from the same day, August 20, 1943 "
Thecharioteer.

The former (above) Hanna Building was reduced by 260' at the west and by approximately 220' at the east to allow for condo construction;

it now being used by Metro Toronto Police Services.

pretty sure it's not riverdale, there's a streetcar visible but the hillside isn't anywhere near tall enough

It could be Sunnyside but I imagine it would be hard to verify the buildings in the background. Maybe Christie Pits?

christie pits only if there ever was a streetcar going up christie

Or if the street in the background is Bloor?

If it's Sunnyside, could the streetcar in the background actually have been the GTR or just the King car?

bloor at christie doesn't drop off at the south side of the park like that

i'm thinking the streetcar was along the queensway? or the diamond was further east and the streetcar was along king?

It shouldn't be that hard to find where the 'first ladies' baseball championships' were held in 1926 but Google is not forthcoming ...

Also, the hydro towers makes me think it's Sunnyside
Here they are in 1914 - pre landfill
