Maybe equally realistic to having it in Markham, if this is like the scheme to build the 20,000-seat arena there, and it's a Mayor Scarpitti plan to have it funded by taxpayers, who, along with city council, might not find that to be a great idea.
Will there be GO train service to the Markham site? What about streetcar or bus services to and from that site? Oh, use the car? No thanks, never go to such a gathering by car.

Will there be GO train service to the Markham site?..
I would assume yes, since it's not far from the Unionville GO train station.
Apparently it will be around the new so-called "Downtown Markham", Enterprise Blvd and Birchmount Rd. (Oh, the vacant land would look great on TV, if this was actually going to happen. :D)

The Honda Indy that has raced around Exhibition Place for nearly 40 years will move in 2026 to a street circuit in Markham under a new multi-year agreement.
The move, announced Wednesday morning, revealed the new temporary track will be built in Markham’s downtown core, between Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, Unionville GO tracks and Highway 407.
“Markham is ready to build on its strong sports legacy and offer a new home where this celebrated summer tradition can thrive,” Markham mayor Frank Scarpitti said in a statement. “I am extremely proud of our team at the City of Markham for bringing this initiative across the finish line in just a matter of months.”

It will be sad to see it go but it makes sense.

Concerns have been raised about the race being held at Exhibition Place before because of track design. As well, it requires a lot of setup and dismantling.

Having said that, a purpose built venue is better.

The Markham track is temporary as well so you would assume it would take as much work and expense to build it every year. Having said that, it's almost certainly a bigger disruption to traffic downtown than it is in Markham.

It sucks that it's a multi-year agreement when all talks before the move was saying the reason for the move was the World Cup. Hopefully the agreement is only for 2-3 years.

If there is a multi-year agreement, it likely means that the temporary venue is in place until they can build a proper venue. Think of it like Rogers Stadium.

They know they have to move the race next year but they also know that it is impossible to construct a permanent venue by that time. They are likely slapping something together while they formalize everything for future years.

It's going to be a downtown street track like Toronto, so that likely means it will be dismantled each year.

The area where they are putting it is currently a massive empty field at Birchmount and Enterprise. I pass by here regularly going to Markville Mall.

Right now there is nothing there, no streets, no buildings nothing. They could easily build a purpose built facility there.

Maybe the Markham Fair Grounds? The Markham Fair is held this year October 2-5, 2025. Shouldn't interfere with the fair for 2026. See https://www.markhamfair.ca/

It's actually intended to be right at the Unionville GO station.
I'm still waiting to hear if this is dependent on getting approved by Markham city council. It doesn't look to be overly disruptive, but of course we don't know the details of the financial arrangements.
