i was just using the wheelchair club as an example. i'm not ridiculous. alot of those clubs are very judgmental in who they allow to enter.

As for the club owners, of course they don’t care about the struggle of others, neither should they. They have businesses to run. Toronto as a whole is a business, it needs to do what’s best for it, and not worry about Canada’s rejects.

i don't care about the club owners either. WTF am i, a socialist? fuck 'em. why should we care about their struggle? they don't care about anyone else, why should anyone care about them? some of these clubs are the most judgmental institutions in the city.

They are trying to keep undesirables from clashing with their motives, why not? They aren’t the only interested parties who don’t want the desirables there. Why should they care about the homeless

they don't have to care about the homeless just like we don't have to care about the clubs. there have always been homeless people in that area. it never bothered me none. the area is probably right for a shelter since it has the homeless population living there already and it is a commercial zone with lots of warehouses whose main activity is usually during the weekend. since most people are opposed to having homeless shelters in residential areas, this is probably only one of the few areas in could be done in.

This is an area for young people to have fun, queers and cripples are welcome. Why should people have to be reminded of the down trodden? Why should we give a shit? There are many other ways of taking care of them. I had a sister who was schizophrenic and committed suicide years back, I have a brother who’s a crack head walking the streets of Toronto. This doesn’t affect my common sense like it does yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you serious? do you live in a fucking bubble? open your eyes, there's misery all around. a homeless shelter in the club district would be the least of my concerns. i'd be more worried about those bullets flying around. i think the club district's days are numbered. almost all the people i know who went to clubs stopped going to those clubs when all the shootings started happening. to me the undesirables are the people holding guns, not the people holding timmy cups asking for a few bucks.

BTW, i'm sorry to hear about your sister and brother. that's pretty tragic.

I think a homeless shelter is a great idea, but let's face it, Vaughn wants it there to expedite the demise of the club district. If it was a neighbourhood he was happy with I doubt he'd suggest a homeless shelter for such a prime piece of real estate. I wouldn't be surprised if it was moved once the club district is gone (at least for the most part).

He should try and move it to the Annex. I grew up in the Annex, believe me, there are no permanent shelters there. There are a couple of small 'half-way' houses (not sure what the politically correct term is).

The thing I do not like is that the city takes hardly any action against homeless people who commit assaults on regular law abiding citizens and foreign tourists. If a mentally insane man has a history of committing crimes, why is he on the street?

I saw a hobo attack a woman for not giving money on Bay street and he was back on the street the next day after he was arrested.

If a regular person did that, he would be in jail.

Solving the homeless problem by building a shelter in the middle of a trendy neighborhood, because poor people have the right to live anywhere they want!!!
