They filled in an already tunnelled section of the Eglinton Subway in 1990. We are safe from nothing.

That was before AFP style contracts. Cancelling Finch, if it reaches financial close before the first sitting of the new government (it'll be close), will be closer to 100% of the price to cancel than the 10% it cost for Eglinton.

It's not safe but cancelling it would make for a ton of negative press.

Exactly. The party is running on fiscal conservatism, which means framing any public spending as "if it doesn't benefit me directly it is a waste" is okay.

'That was 1995, this is 2017. Things are different now' doesn't work in politics, as we have seen many times recently.

Breakout wall is what you look at directly when you enter the station from the northwest corner of Finch and Keele.

The LRT station site is basically empty save for some construction equipment storage. Can't wait for this corner to be completed.

So it is outside of the fare paid area. Would new gates be installed or the old gates (and collector box) moved?

Safe from what? Surplus cars can
But gas plants!
Gas plants.....pearson redevelopments....helicopter orders........

....governments can, do and will cancel plans of previous governments despite large costs and penalties......especially if they view the issue as one of the key reasons they got elected in the first place.

...that said, I don't think Finch West LRT is at any real risk.
