the easy answer that everyone wants to hear: TUNNEL :)

or elevated....but seriously, these people need to accept the reality that they cant get everything they want. If theyre so against it they can simply move out to beside the subways

I think that having proper priority traffic lights for the LRT is what people deems as acceptable. Can't blame people to have doubts when other ROW corridors don't have them. Wasn't Spadina supposed to have them?

In the Finch West EA the most performant system of transit priority was identified as the "move out the way of the 50 tonne LRV, or else" system. Eliminated due to significant safety risks.

But seriously, I hope that Metrolinx can force Toronto Transportation's hand on signal priority (though to be honest I'm not sure if the signal priority issues of the past were the City's fault or if they're just faults inherant to signal a priority; only so much can be done to improve it)

Looks like the Highway 27 stop got cut, and from that map it looks like the Humber College stop in now not on campus, but on Highway 27. I wonder if the Humber College stop was moved to make extending the FWLRT to Pearson or a future Woodbine Casino easier. I mean City Council did study extending the FWLRT to Woodbine, so maybe keeping options open for the future?

Good catch on the moving of the Humber College stop. Yes, I would venture to say that the southward extension is probably the reason. I can't see why Humber College would deny the LRT access, and the cost difference wouldn't be very significant, unless they're really really penny pinching.

Maybe something like this?

The more this line gets updated the more I like it. Reasonable stop spacing for a rapid transit LRT line, good trip generators along the line, good connections to the subway. This is probably the most "Just makes sense" LRT project that's been funded in Toronto. There are some pretty lengthy sections along the ROW that have no cross streets or entrances. Middle of the road should be great without even having to think about elevated, etc

Wouldn't it be better for it to stop at Humber College in order to access all the buses which come there? Besides I don't see any expansion towards Woodbine or the airport anytime soon.

Excellent! That lines it up to be extended to Woodbine Centre, Woodbine Racetrack, and Pearson Airport. Perhaps they can extend it all the way to the Renforth transitway station!

Does anyone know where I would be able to get information on the # of passengers that board or alight at Finch Station for Route 36 Finch West?

I wonder if this route will create an inconvenience for people trying to get down on Yonge/ Across the city or whether existing riders take the bus to Finch simply because there is no connection further west to the subway to take them South.

Do we have any idea on whether the Finch East Bus will be extended west to Finch West Station? Or will a new connector route be implemented between Finch West Station and Finch Station?

I'd imagine Woodbine Centre/ Woodbine Racetrack as is are off-peak loads and fairly infrequent at that. The real value to that alignment extension would be the connection to Pearson/407 Transitway

Taking the 37 one day, I was surprised at how many people boarded at/near Woodbine Centre.

Pearson would be nice, but putting a stop at the corner of Woodbine Centre, requires only more stop. And looks like the 27 bridge over the Humber River is already wide enough to accommodate 2 tracks, with out any widening, or any loss of the 4 existing car lanes.

Also, depending on how Woodbine redevelopment goes, it could become quite a node.

The walk from Highway 27 to Humber College bus terminal and the rest of the college is pretty unpleasant (mostly due to the huge parking lots). The LRT not getting closer to the campus would be unfortunate in my opinion.

I posted this in the SELRT thread, but I'm beginning to think it really makes sense. That is: convert the Shepp Stub for LRT, run a 2km cut/cover along Beecroft between Shepp and Finch, then use the Finch hydro corridor to connect with Finch West (using a combo of trenched, surface, elevated, cut/cover between the two stations) . As a casual observer I can't see anything technically wrong with the idea, and am not sure why this couldn't have been shortlisted during the TC Giambrone days.

This creates a true northerly crosstown line akin to one that has been ID'd for decades. We get tram-style LRT along the eastern/western outer portions, but with the major bonus of a connected Crosstown-style line with speed/reliability for the critical central portion. IMO using Beecroft is better than Dufferin, since it brings both lines to NYC.
