Toronto never said they wanted subways, Scarborough did according to Ford's mandates
The city "as a whole" needs more rapid transit line, more grade separated line regardless if it's elevated, trench or underground.I agree that his close mind on anything above ground hurt his transit agenda because we have elevated subway in the city. It works in Paris, Chicago,NYC.
The problem now is that council are close minded to anything except "at grade" without even exploring elevated or trench rapid transit line.
Can an LRT line operated at grade be rapid transit?
Yes
Can it be done by the TTC?
I personally doubt it. And Paris is a bad example. I took 2 of their LRT lines and St.Clair is just as fast
