I have friends in Gananoque (pronounced Gan-a-nock-way, or Gan for short) so I've been there lots of times over the last few years. It's a touristy town on the St. Lawrence at the Thousand Islands, across the river from New York state. Downtown Gan has brick and stone buildings mostly in Renaissance and Georgian styles. The town has some beautifully restored old houses, many of which have been turned into bed and breakfasts. The main entrances into
town have big "Canada's Gateway to the Thousand Islands" arches over the road but I didn't get any pictures.
