All the buildings on the site of the next phase of the Brentwood TOD are vacated, fenced off, and ready to be demolished. Will be able to update regularly as it's just down from my house :)

Great news. It'll be nice to watch two new towers going up in the same part of NW Calgary.

That looks good, just leave Kilkenny and Jamieson's alone, those are the only 2 places I go to in that entire area lol.

Haha wings at Kilks every Monday dude! That's how I'll be able to get the updates :p

They do, it's Tuesdays.

Next week's CPC is a smaller agenda. 11 secondary suites, an amendment to the West Macleod ASP to incorporate a bit more area, and then a minor zoning change to allow for a new office tower next to Century Park, and the DP for said office tower.

Item 5.03 is the office DP, starting on page 235. The DP drawings (including renderings) start on page 250.

Thanks for the update.

It'd be nice to see that empty lot beside Century Park get developed, but too bad it wasn't a two story retail building instead of an office tower. I wonder where they'll go with this...I can't see them going ahead with the office building anytime soon.

Yeah, my opinion is this is just finishing the permitting process they started back when times were good. At least they will have the approval in their back pocket, but I don't anticipate moving forward with construction any time soon, given that it is office.

It's surprising that they would even go through with the DP process, as I can't see new downtown office being economic within 3 years. I guess it's a speculative play on the market taking off, but a real longshot.

It's really too bad that the City couldn't execute the land swap deal that would have had this tower built adjacent to the Nexen building.

Going back a couple of weeks in our discussion on this topic of the land use on 33rd Ave SW that Sarina submitted. They must be confident in having the Council votes, because despite the recommendation for refusal by CPC, they have submitted a DP for the site:
https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/#property/DP2017-2996
77 units in total. The council vote is on July 31.

Also the CPC minutes for the recommended refusal have been posted. Interesting to read through the item, as it sounds like it was quite the debate. Item 5.22, starting on page 48:
https://www.calgary.ca/PDA/pd/Documents/calgary_planning_commission/minutes/2017/minutes-cpc-june 15.pdf

It's nice that council can look at this in a more general practical sense and not just the %100 by the book. I hope it gets voted through.

So, Council looked at this land use item last week as part of their massive public hearing before the August break. It looks like they overturned CPC's recommendation of refusal, and approved the land use, however it looks like they reduced the height to 15m, as opposed to the proposed 18m. There was also this Motion Arising:
MOTION ARISING, Moved by Councillor Woolley, Seconded by Councillor Chabot, that with respect to Report CPC2017-269, Council direct Administration to hold a workshop with the applicant and the Marda Loop Communities Association Development Committee to review the Development Permit to receive their input into built form, public realm interface, street edge, shadowing and parking.

It was all under item 6.37, minutes found here:
