If there is enough ROW then I would even like to put in landscaping like trees and street furniture and utilities in between the pedestrian and cycling areas on some of the wider streetscapes.
There is only enough ROW in Etobicoke, North York, and Scarborough.

There is absolutely not enough ROW in the former City of Toronto, East York, or York.

Isn't that why the city has been putting in all those raised plastic platforms that basically bridge the bike lane and create a mixed passenger/cyclist zone? They also provide a level exit for a wheelchair or other mobility assisted user to access the sidewalk. I guess they don't exist everywhere, but they seem pretty frequent especially along the new protected lanes on Bloor West.
Sounds plausible. What I do know is that they opted to fully raise the bike lanes on College street, and that much of Danforth is still just separated by concrete bumpers with reflective bollards sticking up out of them (no ramps). With Dofo's recent announcement, we're likely going to be waiting a long time to find out what the final_final_FINALv65000 plan is.

Any third party contractor hired for bike lane removal work should face a full-scale public backlash the same as we have against the government itself. Name and shame them, investigate all public records related to them. It is not an apolitical job, and that should be a deciding factor in accepting the work. There was a great story from Belfast last week where all of the available contractors declined work to remove specific graffiti as they recognized it could be seen as a political endorsement.

Just saw this on Reddit:

From Joel Harden's e-Newsletter:
The government has notified the City of Toronto that it is retaining its own contractors to undertake bike lane removals. They have targeted 500 meters of the most western section of the Bloor Street bike lane and 400 meters of the Yonge Street bike lane. They intent to have this work completed before the end of December 2024.

In the interest of protecting this MPP from misrepresentation, here are his extended remarks:
This is wrong, and it is not just about Toronto. The government has also talked about removing the O’Connor bike lane in Ottawa.

Please sign and share our petition to defend bike lanes in Ontario.

Affronts to our civil liberties must be challenged.

Clearly a job for Sanscon! We already hate them and they never seem to finish things on time!

Yes, though in Belfast if you start doing 'political construction' work you are likely to be shot at and have your equipment torched!

Realistically, if they tear out the portion from Harry's Steakhouse to Crooked Cue, it will probably satisfy everybody. I'd take it as a win if they did that then lost interest.

This is my hope. You do get the feeling Ford is looking for a quick win here.

I can't imagine he wants to drag this out for the next year.

I too am hopeful (under the crappy circumstances) that they tear out that section of Bloor and call it a day, but removing any section of the Yonge bike lanes really sucks, both because there is no other direct north-south route and because it's made that whole retail strip from about Bloor to St. Clair so much more enjoyable now that it's not a highway.

I am curious what 400m section of Yonge they're going to start with; presumably it would be at one end or the other (as you're just bottlenecking traffic if you do it somewhere in the middle). 400m south from St. Clair gets you to about Woodlawn; 400m north from Bloor gets you a little past Church -- both of those seem a bit random because it was the Summerhill folks who were kvetching the loudest when they first went in (400m there-ish gets you sort of Roxborough to Scrivener or Farnham to Birch). Anyhoo, super weird stuff, these people suck.
