Good Earth Coffee on 124st has closed. The superior coffee at Coffee Bureau probably did them in

Loved going there but haven't been since I moved offices. The one on 97st sure did.
Having worked my way through all the dim sum places in Edmonton many times over decades - I would honestly say I don't know. They all tasted like they came some from the prep kitchen. I prefer the BBQ pork pastry (flaky) patties at Golden Rice Bowel. Last time I visited a year ago they were not available. I should have tried on of the bakeries as I have a craving for them. My fav overall dim sum is at Jumbo. Unfortunately Edmonton has lost the large vast room places where the crowds were huge and the push carts plentiful. With New Tan Tan now closed, which Edmonton restaurants serves the best dim sum including BBQ Pork Buns?
Not surprised. Pretty bland brand and menu. Calgarys version of Blenz.Good Earth Coffee on 124st has closed. The superior coffee at Coffee Bureau probably did them in

And Good Earth always was a bit underwhelming. When I did go to them, it was usually because of location. No shortage of coffee options around there these days -- Iconoclast, Brio, Coffee Bureau, Farrow, Remedy, Cafe Versailles.
The trend that mostly seems to be continuing is a lot of the nice new places are local and unique and the coffee places closing are chains from out of town. Not surprised. Pretty bland brand and menu. Calgarys version of Blenz.
I think coffee either has to be a massive chain or a higher quality local one. The inbetweens just suck.
A&W there would be sick. A late night fast casual would be nice for the area.
While Double Greeting remains a favourite of mine (I lived in the weird little house right next to Wong's Benevolent Association for 6 years after all), they don't seem to offer dim sum service.Emperor is one of the few places I will go for Dimsum. TanTan was the other. My wife took me to Double Greeting a few times. sketchy place but very good.
In between tends to be "high quality local coffee prices or worse but without the high quality local coffee".Not surprised. Pretty bland brand and menu. Calgarys version of Blenz.

Words cannot describe how much I loathe A&W - trying to put an order on line a few weeks ago - they don't have combo meals on their App so it's entirely a la carte! Basically 2 Combo Meals for me and the nephew was pushing $50.00!!!!! Then they make you have a method of payment on line - so you can't pay in the store. Deleted the order and will probably never go back as they are the biggest rip off burger joint on the planet. While Double Greeting remains a favourite of mine (I lived in the weird little house right next to Wong's Benevolent Association for 6 years after all), they don't seem to offer dim sum service.
