On Jasper

Can anyone remind me, is this a new location or move?

I believe their current location is about to go through a major reno, so many this was the impetus?

Openings
  • Congrats to the team at District Cafe on the opening of their second location at the University of Alberta campus. It is located at Campus Tower, 11147 87 Avenue NW.
  • The folks behind Meuwly’s have opened a new space in Old Strathcona in the historic Hub Cigar building at 10345 82 Avenue NW. It will “serve as a launchpad for Edmonton’s emerging restaurants”, with inaugural pop-ups featuring Beb’s Bagels and Balay Coffee.
  • Seitans, serving up plant-based food in Die Pie, will be opening a location on Jasper Avenue and 112 Street.
  • I always thought Edmonton would be ripe for more seasonal ice cream carts, so its great to see Bestie Ice Cream, the “sunny sidekick of Kind Ice Cream,” open in Crestwood at 14325 96 Avenue NW. It will open July 8.
  • Zest Kitchen and Bar is now open downtown at 10127 100A Street NW, primarily serving up burgers.
  • Molly Tea, a Chinese-based franchise focused on jasmine tea, will open at 10173 109 Street NW (formerly Tsujuri).
  • Nero Cafe is coming soon to 9947 82 Avenue NW.
  • Mr. Halal Burger has opened a second location in West Edmonton Mall.
Sorry to nit pick, but the historic Hub Cigar building burned down some years ago. This very nice building was built there after and fits in nicely with the area, but historic is it not.

Vagabond's Summer Bistro has taken over the Under the High Wheel space on Whyte during the evenings (Thursday-Sundays). I've went twice; each visit was sublime. Best meals I've had in months. Highly recommended.

Their current building better be going through a major reno, it's in dire need and I remember seeing a development permit a few years ago for a full podium renewal.

How's the clientele at Pazzo Pazzo these days? I went there during Downtown Dining Week earlier this year and it was mostly dead, although there was an Oilers home game occurring at roughly the same time. I'm hoping for increased clientele at the new/2nd location.

It will be interesting to see because there're several good Italian options around, starting with all the Daniel Costa's in The Citizen, the new Nero in Brewery district and SPK in Jasper Ave

My guess is get blown out of the water, as their food doesn’t even rate on the same scale of those other high end Italian restaurants you mentioned
