The PM has ordered workers back to the office for atleast 4 days a week

Higher ups May 4 2026

Everyone else July 6 2026
What a shitshow.

And a waste of tax dollars. Analysis shows it costs 6 billion to upkeep this "return to office" nonsense. What a joke. We had so much time to densify and create a better mixed-use CBD. 5 years to work on it and make it a non-ghost town. But no, let's keep those cafes that are only open from 9am to 2pm and parking garages full.

What a great step instead of improving our city.

Most are in 3 days a week as it is are we really going to say 4 or 5 days so max 2 more days will be a big impact for abrs etc.

I am not sure if this is the right place but people on reddit on going crazy over building in the core.

this quote is the best from

"We have spent billions on LRT, and a critical step is building density close by to maximize ridership, and ideally develop generations of ottawans who don't need a car at all."

Also parkdale, Centertown or little italy? do them ALL!

Parkdale is quite a mess. I doubt new development contributes that much to the traffic woes. Hoping moving the Civic will alleviate some of the traffic.

This guy plans to run for mayor if he gets 1000 people supporting him.

Trying to torpedo Leiper so it doesn't become obvious in retrospect that it was his policy program and Horizon Ottawa's martyrdom complex which caused Mckenny to lose big time.

Looks like the city will be buying the hotel at 377 O’Connor for 45 Million, which is eligible to be mostly covered by the feds through the Interim Housing Assistance program, leaving the city on the hook for around 2 million.

Personally, this is a great move! Adds some needed interim supply for a relatively cheap cost.

Since its a hotel it should not need a ton of work .

Since its a hotel it should not need a ton of work .
From the article:
“Staff say the building has several advantages for purchasing, including:
  • Turnkey, vacant building. “The complex can be occupied almost immediately with options for modifications,” staff said.
  • Ideal number of units
  • Each unit is equipped with a full kitchen, three-piece bathroom and a queen-size bed.
  • Varied unit sizes
  • “No loss of units from the private rental market.”
Seems like quite the slam dunk win.
