I don't see that the report upthread indicates that they are arguing that. It seems that all they want is some sort of process and guidelines for the approval of events on the islands, rather than the ad hoc way events are approved now. That hardly seems unreasonable.

And it's the same reason you don't hear of rock festivals and the like at High Park--sure, maybe some 30-40 years ago them hippies might have dissed "The Man" for disallowing such events, but the wisdom seems that much clearer now...
